Alto Adige Lagrein Edizione DOC

This family name is an inheritance from our forefathers, to which one is committed. DeSilva stands for the selection of the best grape qualities and care of the land of the old, deeply-rooted vine enclosures. The origin and character from our vineyards make the difference.

Vine variety: Lagrein Edizione

Description: This Lagrein is an autochthonal  vine variety from South Tyrol and is a selection from our oldest vineyard Galgengut in Caldaro. It convinces by its intense fruitiness of Amarena cherries and fruits of the forest. Its palette shows deep and close aromas, it is very full bodied with a  lasting taste. A special Lagrein with the signature of this old vineyard by the lake.

Position: Oldest vineyard in the Galgengut by the lake in Caldaro . Because of the deeply-rooted vines, a very marked and complex red wine of the area is achieved.

Land: Loamy, stony land

Harvest: Beginning of October

Yield: Approx. 65 hl/ha

Development: Mechanical removal from the stems, traditional mash fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. Here also juice extraction is carried out in order to guarantee optimum maceration or extraction of the mash respectively. When fermentation is completed the wine is extracted from the marc and stored for approx. 1.5 years in barriques.

Shelf life: 5 – 10 years

Serving temperature: 18 °C

Food recommendation: Because of its complex structure we recommend sophisticated dishes with dark meat, venison, also grilled dishes, or even lamb and also hard cheese and smoked meat.
